Study Abroad in Madrid
IAU offers both semester and summer study abroad programs in the lively and beautiful city of Madrid, Spain. IAU’s campus in Madrid is centrally located at the Universidad Pontificia Comillas in close proximity to many of Barcelona's famed attractions. In addition to the large number of courses offered at the IAU Madrid campus, students can select from courses at the Universidad Pontifica de Comillas. Students have access to classrooms, libraries, study spaces, gyms, and cafeterias. Academic programs include Spanish language immersion, Spanish honors, humanities and social sciences, business, and internship offerings.
To complete the course curriculum, IAU hosts a plethora of guest speakers and lecturers from a wide breadth of disciplines including journalists, musicians, and political activists. Panels and conferences that are hosted throughout the semester allow students to hear a full spectrum of opinions about both Spanish and European politics and lifestyles.
During the summer in Madrid, students will earn up to nine academic credits and can choose from a variety of course offerings. Courses are offered in Spanish language, history, and literature. IAU also offers courses instructed in English in religious studies, history, art history, international relations, engineering, psychology, and more. Lectures and field studies will provide students with perspective on how their coursework fits into the context of their study abroad program. Students may choose to live in homestays, which encourages immersion into the Spanish language and culture, or they can opt to reside in apartments.
