Board of Trustees

The American College of the Mediterranean (ACM) is a U.S. nonprofit institution of higher education governed by a Board of Trustees. ACM’s Institute for American Universities (IAU) serves as the institution’s study abroad division. The Board currently consists of nineteen distinguished members, including nine IAU alumni, who bring a diverse range of professional expertise and a deep commitment to the institution’s mission.

The Board of Trustees is responsible for providing strategic leadership and fiduciary oversight to ensure ACM’s long-term success and sustainability. Among its primary responsibilities are appointing and evaluating the President, approving the institution’s strategic direction, overseeing financial stewardship and budgeting, managing endowment and investment policies, and helping ensure that ACM has the resources necessary to fulfill its educational mission. The Board also provides oversight of the institution’s physical assets, including its campus in Aix-en-Provence, France, and its academic centers in Barcelona and Madrid, Spain, and Florence, Italy.

Trustees are expected to actively support the institution through their service, expertise, advocacy, and philanthropy. Each Trustee makes a minimum annual contribution of $1,000 to ACM, although many choose to contribute beyond that commitment. The Board meets in person at least once each year, with additional meetings conducted as needed throughout the year.
