Deadlines and Policies

The following financial policies apply to all IAU study abroad campuses and programs.

All students participating in IAU programs are held to IAU's financial policies. Students participating in IAU programs through 3rd party organizations (ie: CEA, ASA, etc) are held to that organization's financial policies.  Failure to comply with these policies may impact student participation in the program as well as the ability to receive an official transcript.

POLICIES/COSTS FOR ALL PROGRAMS 

  • All fees are due by the published payment deadline stated above. Failure to meet the established payment deadline may result in cancellation (prior to the program start date) or program removal (on or after program start date).  Such program cancellations or program removals are subject to the cancellation policy as state below.

  • Students must have their financial accounts paid in-full before they are permitted to move into program housing, attend classes, or participate in any official program-related events or activities. 

  • A $1,000 grant, deducted from the spring semester invoice, is provided to qualified students who enroll for both fall and spring semesters at any IAU program. 

  • A $1,250 grant, deducted from the Session C invoice, is provided to qualified students who enroll for both a Session B and Session C summer session at two of IAU's locations (for example: Aix-en-Provence and Barcelona; Tangier and Aix-en-Provence). 

  • Students who enroll in a January Term Seminar and the spring semester at one of IAU's locations consecutively are eligible to receive a $2,000 grant credited to their spring semester invoice. In order to be eligible to receive the grant, students must participate in the Early Start Program during the week between the end of the January Term Seminar and the start of the spring semester. 

  • There are additional course fees associated with particular courses/disciplines. See the relevant location and term below for more information. 

  • IAU costs do not include and students are responsible for the following: optional programs such as the Early Start Program, supplemental course fees, damages caused by the student, round-trip airfare, passport/visa fees, meals for apartments/residences, any meals not included, and personal expenses. For J-Term, course materials are not included and students should expect to purchase any required course materials. 

FINANCIAL POLICIES FOR CANCELLATION
Financial policies related to student cancellation are as follows:

Early Start Program (Fall and Spring Semesters):
Program Start Date refers to the Arrival Date listed on the Academic Calendars page for the Early Start Program.

Student Cancellation:
  • 30 days or more prior to the program start date: no penalty
  • Within 29 days of the program start date: $250 penalty


Fall Semester/Academic Year Applicants:
Program Start Date refers to the Arrival Date listed on the Academic Calendars page. NOTE: If you are enrolled in the Early Start Program, Program Start Date refers to the Early Start Program Arrival Date as listed on the Academic Calendars page. 

Student Cancellation:
  • The Enrollment Deposit and Application Fee is nonrefundable
  • Between 29-15 days prior to the program start date: Enrollment Deposit, Application Fee, and 25% of total program cost is nonrefundable
  • 14 days or less prior to the program start date: Enrollment Deposit, Application Fee, and 50% of total program cost is nonrefundable
  • As of program start date or after: no refunds


Spring Semester/Academic Year Applicants:
Program Start Date refers to the Arrival Date listed on the Academic Calendars page. NOTE: If you are enrolled in the Early Start Program, Program Start Date refers to the Early Start Program Arrival Date as listed on the Academic Calendars page. 

Student Cancellation:
  • The Enrollment Deposit and Application Fee is nonrefundable
  • Between 29-15 days prior to the program start date: Enrollment Deposit, Application Fee, and 25% of total program cost is nonrefundable

Summer Term Applicants:

Student Cancellation:

  • The Enrollment Deposit and Application Fee is nonrefundable
  • Between 29-15 days prior to the program start date: Enrollment Deposit, Application Fee, and 25% of total program cost is nonrefundable
  • 14 days or less prior to the program start date: Enrollment Deposit, Application Fee, and 50% of total program cost is nonrefundable
  • As of program start date or after: no refunds 


J-Term Applicants:

Program Start Date refers to the Arrival Date listed on the J-Term Program page.

Student Cancellation:
  • The Enrollment Deposit and Application Fee is nonrefundable
    • Note: If the student is waitlisted for their chosen program or their chosen program is cancelled and they do not wish to enroll in a different available J-Term program, the enrollment deposit will be refunded.
  • Between 45-15 days prior to program start date: Enrollment Deposit, Application Fee, and 25% of total program cost is nonrefundable 
  • 14 days or less prior to the program start date: Enrollment Deposit, Application Fee, and 50% of total program cost is nonrefundable
  • As of program start date or after: no refunds


Virtual Experiences Programs Applicants - Semester and Summer
Program Start Date is the official start date published on the Virtual Semester or Virtual Summer Experiences page.

Student Cancellation:
  • The Enrollment Deposit and Application Fee is nonrefundable
  • Within 14 days of the program start date: Enrollment Deposit, Application Fee and 25% of total program cost is nonrefundable 
  • As of program start date or after: no refunds

DEFERRALS/TRANSFER OF MONIES PAID
Accepted students may defer their enrollment and monies paid for up to one year from their original intended term of enrollment. Students who defer may be required to submit additional paperwork, and IAU reserves the right to contact the sending institution to confirm that the student is still in good standing and approved to participate in the program. Students may transfer monies paid to a future program.

EXCEPTIONS
Exceptions for illness, accident, or anything else out of the control of the student can be made. A written explanation along with supporting documentation must be sent to IAU's Office of Admissions. Their decision is final.
