The following financial policies apply to all IAU study abroad campuses and programs:

PROGRAM FEES
Program Fees vary by program, location, and term, so we encourage you to visit the Program Fees page. For information on making payments to IAU, payment options, and deadlines, please visit our Payments Page. All students participating in IAU programs are held to IAU's financial policies. Students participating in IAU programs through 3rd party organizations (ie: CEA, ASA, etc) are held to that organization's financial policies.  Failure to comply with these policies may impact student participation in the program as well as the ability to receive an official transcript.

ENROLLMENT DEPOSITS
Students are responsible for an enrollment deposit due with their application upon admittance: $1,000 for semester and summer programs; $1,500 for J-Term programs; $250 for virtual programs. This deposit will be applied to the overall program cost and will appear on students' invoices.

CANCELLATION POLICY
To cancel enrollment in a program, applicants - or their sponsoring institution - must send an email to enroll@iau.edu outlining the reasons behind the cancellation. Until receipt of this written confirmation of cancellation, the student will still be considered enrolled and will be withheld from the financial policies outlined below.

FINANCIAL POLICIES FOR CANCELLATION
Financial policies related to student cancellation are as follows:

Early Start Program (Fall and Spring Semesters):
Program Start Date refers to the Arrival Date listed on the Academic Calendars page for the Early Start Program.

Student Cancellation:
  • 30 days or more prior to the program start date: no penalty
  • Within 29 days of the program start date: $250 penalty


Fall Semester/Academic Year Applicants:
Program Start Date refers to the Arrival Date listed on the Academic Calendars page. NOTE: If you are enrolled in the Early Start Program, Program Start Date refers to the Early Start Program Arrival Date as listed on the Academic Calendars page. 

Student Cancellation:
  • After May 15: enrollment deposit is nonrefundable
  • Between 29-15 days prior to the program start date: enrollment deposit and 25% of total program cost is nonrefundable
  • 14 days or less prior to the program start date: enrollment deposit and 50% of total program cost is nonrefundable
  • As of program start date or after: no refunds


Spring Semester/Academic Year Applicants:
Program Start Date refers to the Arrival Date listed on the Academic Calendars page. NOTE: If you are enrolled in the Early Start Program, Program Start Date refers to the Early Start Program Arrival Date as listed on the Academic Calendars page. 

Student Cancellation:
  • After October 15: enrollment deposit is nonrefundable
  • Between 29-15 days prior to the program start date: enrollment deposit and 25% of total program cost is nonrefundable
  • 14 days or less prior to the program start date: enrollment deposit and 50% of total program cost is nonrefundable

Summer Term Applicants:

Program Start Date refers to the Arrival Date listed on the Academic Calendars page.

Student Cancellation:

  • After April 1: enrollment deposit is nonrefundable
  • Between 29-15 days prior to the program start date: enrollment deposit and 25% of total program cost is nonrefundable
  • 14 days or less prior to the program start date: enrollment deposit and 50% of total program cost is nonrefundable
  • As of program start date or after: no refunds 


J-Term Applicants:

Program Start Date refers to the Arrival Date listed on the J-Term Program page.

Student Cancellation:
  • After October 1: enrollment deposit is nonrefundable
    • Note: If the student is waitlisted for their chosen program or their chosen program is cancelled and they do not wish to enroll in a different available J-Term program, the enrollment deposit will be refunded.
  • Between 45-15 days prior to program start date: enrollment deposit and 25% of total program cost is nonrefundable 
  • 14 days or less prior to the program start date: enrollment deposit and 50% of total program cost is nonrefundable
  • As of program start date or after: no refunds


Virtual Experiences Programs Applicants - Semester and Summer
Program Start Date is the official start date published on the Virtual Semester or Virtual Summer Experiences page.

Student Cancellation:
  • 15 days or more prior to the program start date: no penalty and refund of enrollment deposit 
  • Within 14 days of the program start date: enrollment deposit and 25% of total program cost is nonrefundable 
  • As of program start date or after: no refunds

DEFERRALS/TRANSFER OF MONIES PAID
Accepted students may defer their enrollment and monies paid for up to one year (from their original intended term of enrollment). Students who defer are not required to submit additional paperwork, but IAU reserves the right to contact the sending institution to confirm the student is still in good standing. Students may transfer monies paid to a future program.

EXCEPTIONS
Exceptions for illness, accident, or anything else out of the control of the student can be made. A written explanation along with supporting documentation must be sent to IAU's Office of Admissions. Their decision is final.
