Travel Logistics - Madrid
Please plan to arrive in Madrid between 9am and 2pm on the official IAU arrival day. For most students, this means departing the United States the day before, as you will lose hours due to the change in time zone and transatlantic flight. If you wish to arrive before arrival day, please be sure to make your own housing arrangements for those extra nights as you will not be able to move into your accommodations until arrival day.
An IAU representative will be available on arrival day and assist students in moving in to their housing assignment in Madrid. Orientation will take place the following day.
Please note that you must move out of your housing (homestay or apartment) by 11:00 am on departure day. You are welcome to stay in Europe after this date. However, please note that after departure day you will be responsible for your own housing accommodations.

Finally, when purchasing your flights, please be sure to fly into the Madrid Barajas airport (MAD). Once you have purchased your flight, please submit your itinerary via email and please submit the details through your student portal. If you have any questions, please contact the U.S. Office.
